True Healing Begins With Kai

Our favourite time of day is our morning ritual

We wander around the māra foraging our breakfast, collecting veges, weeds, flowers, herbs, rongoā for our morning cuppa~ our earthy ambrosia

The mauri of our whenua will always be found in the organic produce it births

True healing begins with kai,

Nutritional organic kai sits at the heart~ the core pillars of our kāinga

With the cost of living continuously soaring,

One thing we know as Mamas and Papas, is the pressure of how can we nourish our whānau when we don’t have enough pūtea/money to do so.

Our tūpuna ate simple, in season with our tinana alongside our hina cycles and you can too

~ Grow what you can, this is the season to start learning if you haven’t done so before. Even if you don’t have space for a māra kai, window sills are ya best friend~ awesome for micro greens and herbs that pack a punch!!

~ Connect with your surrounding neighbours, local marae, communities, trade & barter system. Door knock if you see someone with an abundance of fruit that’s not being used and trade for chutneys/stewed fruit etc

~ Eat with your inner season

~ Shop local at farmers markets, way cheaper than supermarket & quality organic produce.

~ Study/level up mamas~ We know it’s time consuming but investing in your health should be at the forefront, learn about weeds, foraging, & being able to make a meal by just going for a walk. There is so much knowledge available to us

~ Invest in some heritage seeds so you can grow kai & seed bank later, grow in buckets if your limited with space You can join seed bank groups or barter and trade too if pūtea/money is sparse.

~ Follow our maramataka cycles, plenty of apps if you are unsure when to go fishing, hunting, gathering. Observe if there are any planting workshops around and learn as a whānau new ideas etc

~ Koha kai wherever you can! If you have extra fruit on your trees, veges etc

Check up on your neighbours especially our elders whānau!

Our village is PARAMOUNT

Our question for you all ~

What seeds are you planting this season that will lead you and your whānau to true health and harmony?
